Online legal services company LegalZoom.com has delayed its initial public offering due to market conditions, according to an underwriting source. The Glendale, Calif.-based firm was trying to raise as much as $96 million by pricing 8 million shares at a range of $10 to $12.

Daffy’s day

JEMB Realty Corp. agreed to purchase off-price retailer Daffy’s, which is currently in Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Samsonite International bought high-end luggage brand Hartmann for $35 million from private-equity firm Clarion Capital Partners.

Jobless

Initial claims for state unemployment benefits rose 8,000 to a seasonally adjusted 365,000, the Labor Department said, less than economists’ expectations for an increase to 370,000.

GM stalls

General Motors said its second-quarter profit slid 38 percent as losses widened in Europe, where the auto market is heading toward its fifth year of sales declines.
