A widely circulated Twitter pic purportedly of Taylor Swift and Conor Kennedy with her parents might actually be a shot of the singer with her brother, who bears a resemblance to his sister’s beau.
The grainy shot sparked speculation — and stories in E Online, Huffington Post and Us Magazine — that the love-struck singer was so head over heels she’d engineered a meeting between her new boyfriend and mother and father.
In the shot, Taylor’s parents Scott and Andrea Swift — who are facing the camera — are sitting across from what appears to be Taylor Swift and a dark-haired man in a flannel shirt.
Swift’s face can only be seen from the side, her trademark curly hair in a ponytail and wearing a blue and white floral print dress that she’s been photographed in before.
The man seated next to her is only seen from behind. None of his face is visible.
A diehard Swift fan living in Nashville — who tweets under the handle TheSwiftys — on Aug. 7 tweeted “Scott Swift, Andrea Swift, Taylor Swift, and Conor Kennedy in Nashville.”
Although his face can’t be seen, the curly hair of the man in the shot does look like the grandson of the late Robert F Kennedy.
However, the woman who originally posted the pic —which was retweeted by TheSwiftys and then picked up by media outlets — said she wasn’t sure who was in it.
“My mom took this pic!” Tarah Allen Wiegmann tweeted to TheSwiftys on Aug. 8.
“I thought it was her brother since it was Fathers Day but maybe it was conner [sic].”
Swift’s brother Austin also has dark hair and a similar build as Kennedy, whose mother Mary Kennedy killed herself in August.
TheSwiftys — in a tweet to Wiegmann today — thanked her for posting it and apologized for not crediting her.
“Sorry, I didn’t know anything about who took the pic, I got it from tumblr,” she wrote.
If the picture actually is of Swift, 22, and Kennedy, it would mean their “Love Story” began far earlier than anyone thought, since Wiegmann claimed it was taken in Nashville on June 17, which was Father’s Day.
Kennedy didn’t turn 18 until July, and Page 6 reported yesterday that his family refused to let the two come out publicly as a couple until he was legally an adult.
It would also mean that Kennedy chose not to spend Fathers Day with his own father, Robert Kennedy Jr, a month after his mother hung himself in the family home.
Robert Kennedy was in the process of divorcing Mary Kennedy when she killed herself.
