Giants’ Tuck says Jets Wildcat ‘pretty simple’ to prepare for

ALBANY — It is the contention of Jets coach Rex Ryan that the mere presence of Tim Tebow on the roster will force opposing defenses to prepare so fervently for Tebow and the Wildcat offense that it will take valuable time away from any team gearing up for the Jets.

It is the contention of Justin Tuck that Ryan is making too big a deal of all this.

“A little bit,’’ Tuck said yesterday when asked about the Tebow effect. “Not as much as I think they would like, but a little bit. You definitely have to prepare for him because he’s a dynamic player, but there ain’t too many things you can do out of the Wildcat. It’s pretty simple when you think about it.’’

The Giants aren’t going to do any real game-planning for Saturday night’s preseason meeting with the Jets, but if this were a regular-season meeting, the Tebow factor would be more pressing.

“I’m just eager to play the next game,’’ Tuck said. “Fortunately for us it involves Tebow. I think I might not even get the opportunity to play against him.’’

Tuck never backs off from proclaiming his intense dislike of NFC East teams, especially the Cowboys, but hasn’t summoned up any of those emotions for the Jets.

“For me personally, the Jets are just another team that we play,’’ Tuck said. “I don’t think we have a rivalry with them. I really don’t. I know we have one with our division foes, but for the Jets it’s just another game that we need to win.’’

Asked about all the attention the Jets have garnered this summer, Tuck said: “That’s where we’re going with this session? Last time I checked I played for the Giants and I’ve only heard one question about the Giants. I really don’t want to talk about the Jets.

“We don’t get caught up in the Tebowmanias of the world — I guess would be the right phrase. We worry about what goes on at Giants camp.’’
