The voice of “Sesame Street’s” Count von Count has died.
Jerry Nelson, who voiced the friendly vampire who taught children how to count, died on Thursday of unspecified causes at the age of 78, The Jim Henson Company confirms.
Nelson gave life to a number of other characters on “Fraggle Rock” and “The Muppet Show,” as well as Snuffleupagus on “Sesame Street.”
He began working on “Sesame” in the ’70s and, while he retired from puppet operating in 2004, he voiced The Count up until his death.
