Gil (Owen Wilson) is a Hollywood screenwriter who, on a trip to Paris with his fiancée (Rachel McAdams) and her overbearing family, finds himself transported back in time to the Golden Age. There he meets and hobnobs with the Fitzgeralds, Cole Porter, Ernest Hemingway, Josephine Baker, Alice B.Toklas and Gertrude Stein (played brilliantly by Kathy Bates).

Slumdog Millionaire, 2008

Tuesday, 8 p.m., Reelz

Danny Boyle’s inspirational, hilarious, harrowing and fantastic underdog story about a young man (Dev Patel) who grew up on the streets of Mumbai. When he wins the Indian version of “Who Wants To Be a Millionaire” he’s arrested on suspicion of cheating. Under interrogation, his life unfolds, explaining how he knew the answer to every question. Winner of eight Oscars, the film also stars Freida Pinto.

The Jewel of the Nile,

1985

Thursday, 3:30 p.m., MOMAX

Sequel to — but as good as —“Romancing the Stone,” this time we find Joan (Kathleen Turner) and Jack (Michael Douglas), living the good — but bored — life aboard their yacht. When romance writer Joan gets invited to the Middle East, she accepts. But then — wouldn’t you know it?— she gets kidnapped. Jack goes to fetch her back with Ralph (Danny DeVito), his new partner. Love it!

The Cooler 2003

Saturday, 7:15 p.m., HBO

Quirky movie about the unluckiest man in Vegas (William H. Macy) who is such bad news that he’s hired by the mob to sit in on games to sour winners with his bad vibes. Then he falls in love with a cocktail waitress, (Maria Bello) and his own luck changes. Also starring Alec Baldwin.
