Ratings roll for Honey Boo Boo

Woo hoo for Honey Boo Boo.

The controversial kiddie pageant show starring 6-year-old Alana “Honey Boo Boo Child” Thompson is turning into ratings bonanza.

According to TLC, the channel that created the series as a spinoff of “Toddlers and Tiaras,” last week’s episode had 2.3 million viewers, the highest for the reality show so far.

The ratings have been rising steadily since the show’s premiere three weeks ago. That is rare for a new show, which usually loses at least some audience in the weeks after its debut before leveling off.

TLC is reportedly rushing to shoot two more episodes for the series that was originally planned to last just six hours.

Alana and her mom were spotted in front of their home in McIntyre, Ga., shooting scenes of Boo Boo coming back from her first day at school.

Paparazzi stationed in front of the house also captured an Alana meltdown, showing her plopped down and crying on the front lawn, though what the little girl was upset about was not immediately apparent.

In last week’s episode, Alana said goodbye to her pet pig, Glitzy, who was a prop for her pageant routine but became a part of the family.
