Cuomo: Vamoose, Vito!

Assemblyman Vito Lopez has few allies left.

In the wake of Lopez’s Assembly censure for sexually harassing staff, Gov. Cuomo yesterday joined the chorus calling for the longtime Brooklyn Democratic Party boss to resign.

“Sexual harassment at the workplace cannot be tolerated in any shape or form,” Cuomo spokesman Josh Vlasto said. “These are serious allegations, and, if true, the governor believes he should resign.”

Even Lopez’s support base, the Thomas Jefferson Democratic Club, agrees. Club leaders say they plan to urge him not to run for re-election as party chair next month.

“Better for the party, better for him,” a source said.

Lopez, 71, did not return messages seeking comment. His attorney has denied the accusations.

Last week, the Assembly Ethics Committee found he groped a staffer and made lewd remarks to others.
