An eccentric woman known for riding around Greenwich Village on her scooter was fatally struck by a tractor-trailer yesterday — and then gruesomely dragged two city blocks as horrified onlookers desperately tried to get the driver to stop.

Jessica Dworkin (inset), 58, known as “the Scooter Lady,’’ was on her two-wheeled ride trying to cross Sixth Avenue from east to west at about 8:50 a.m. when she was clipped by the truck’s rear trailer bed as it turned right onto Sixth from West Houston street, police sources said.

“I heard her scream,” said construction worker Fernando Portorreal “People were trying to get the truck to stop. Once she went under the tire, it was too late. Her body was wrapped around [it].”

Apparently unaware that he’d hit anyone, truck driver Greg Smith — whose vehicle’s cab bears the slogan “Greg Smith 7 Years Safe Driving” — continued driving up Sixth Avenue to Carmine Street, where he finally stopped after seeing people frantically waving and screaming, sources said.

Smith remained on the scene and is not expected to be charged with any wrongdoing, police said.
