WATCH: Kent State player recovers fumble and runs the wrong way

What a boneheaded play!

Kent State opened its college football season Thursday against Towson. Near the end of the second quarter, Kent State was forced to punt.

The ball touched Towson’s returner – a live ball. So Kent State linebacker Andre Parker picked up the ball … and ran the wrong way.

“Wait a minute, wait a minute,” TSN’s announcers responded. “He’s running the wrong way! Holy Moly!”

Parker ran nearly 60 yards toward the wrong end of the field before Tigers defenders forced him out of bounds. If they hadn’t, Parker’s run would have earned Towson two points for a safety.

To top it all off, referees eventually called the ball dead where Parker recovered it – meaning the sophomore’s ill-fated run in the wrong direction didn’t even count.
