One of the few really, really successful dinosaur-in-modern-times movies since the original (emphasis on original) “King Kong” is this one from Steven Spielberg. A billionaire, (Richard Attenborough) invites scientists (Laura Dern and Sam Neill) to have a preview peek at his new theme park. The theme? Resurrected dinosaurs brought to life through cloning.Yay! All good until the beasts decide that they can’t be fenced in.Terrifying suspense and great action.Love this movie!

Black Narcissus, 1947

Monday, 5:45 pm., TCM

An order of British nuns opens a convent in the Hmalayas, planting vegetables and teaching the local children.Their struggle to adapt to the remote, exotic surroundings has one nun asking for a transfer and another one demonstrating increasingly dangerous behavior. Sister Clodagh (Deborah Kerr) is flooded with memories of the boy she left behind to join the order. The beautifully photographed film won an Oscar for cinematography. Based on the novel by Rumer Godden. Co-starring Jean Simmons and David Farrar.

Pretty Woman, 1990

Wednesday, 6:30 pm., ABCFAM

Why a hooker film is on a family channel I can’t begin to imagine, but this fan favorite is about a rich, emotionally detached guy (Richard Gere,. left) who hires a prostitute, (Julia Roberts, right), and decides to clean her up so he can take her around to corporate events without getting involved. He buys her a huge amount of designer clothing and everything else she ever dreamed of — and mistakenly falls for her. Moral of the story? Hookers really have a fun life. Co-starring Laura San Giacomo.

Zorba the Greek, 1964

Saturday, 3:30 pm., TCM

Three Oscars, including one for Best Supporting Actress to Lila Kedrova, went to this great classic. Alan Bates, right) is a disenchanted, dour Englishman who comes into a small inheritance on a Greek island, travels there and meets Zorba, a larger-than-life local (Anthony Quinn) with a zest for wine, women and song. He makes the Brit reexamine his own joy-free existence. Terrific.
