Electrician busted after cops intercept boxes containing 10 POUNDS of marijuana: police

An electrician at an Astoria film production building was caught red-handed Thursday when his hefty delivery of marijuana reached cops before him, police said.

Police said members of the 114th Precinct Anti-Crime unit responded to Kaufman Studios on 36th Avenue in Queens on Sep. 6 after the building’s security personnel intercepted two big cardboard boxes stuffed to the brim with pot. The boxes contained nine sealed plastic pouches of marijuana guessed to weigh around 10 pounds in total.

The intended recipient of the pot-filled parcels, Brooklyn resident Lowell Schulman, 53, admitted to cops that he had been awaiting the drugs but that he had been expecting a much lighter load. Upon searching Schulman cops also found five plastic dime-bags filled with crack-cocaine which he had stashed in the left pants pocket of his pants.

Schulman, who police said also had an outstanding warrant, was charged with felony criminal possession of marijuana, criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Police said the return address on the packages listed a UPS rental facility in California and that the investigation is ongoing.
