Trial to be set for postal worker who allegedly killed Dershowitz’s sister-in-law

A postal worker is set to go on trial in Manhattan as early as Monday for mowing down the bike-riding sister-in-law of famed attorney Alan Dershowitz — and then allegedly knowingly driving off in his mail truck.

Ian Clement struck and killed Marilyn Dershowitz, 68 — a retired Manhattan Supreme Court special referee — in July 2011 as she bicycled along West 29th Street near Ninth Avenue with her husband, Nathan, who is also a lawyer.

Clement, 62, of the Bronx, has insisted through attorney John Arlia that he simply didn’t know he’d struck the woman. Dershowitz — famed for helping overturn the wife-murder conviction of Claus von Bulow in 1984, and who has repped celebrity clients including OJ Simpson, Mike Tyson, Patty Hearst and Jim Bakker — has been outspoken about the case.

“The mail truck just ran her over and kept going,” Dershowitz told The Post at the time. Arlia has said he has evidence that Clement couldn’t see the victim, even after he pulled over briefly.

Clement was in court for a brief pre-trial appearance this morning; Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Richard Carruthers called the parties back to court tomorrow at 10:30 so that the case can be sent out to a yet-chosen trial judge.
