Amber Alert canceled but NY child still missing

NEWBURGH — Authorities have canceled an Amber Alert for a 5-year-old girl snatched off a Hudson Valley street Wednesday afternoon and forced into a pickup truck by two men.

The notification canceling the alert was issued around 10:20 a.m. Thursday by state police, who say it was canceled because “no identified child has been reported missing.” No other information on the case has been released.

City of Newburgh police said earlier Thursday that they’ve received no information from anyone reporting a missing girl. Calls to the department’s detectives weren’t returned.

Newburgh police issued an Amber Alert after witnesses said the girl was carried into truck by two men who pulled up near a school shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The vehicle was described as a black or dark pickup truck, possibly with green writing on it.
