SHANNON, 28, a human resources director, told Meet Market she usually prefers to date older guys, while Derek, 25, a media account manager, told us he typically dates younger women.But as the saying goes, age ain’t nothing but a number, so Meet Market took a gamble and sent the pair to Fatty ’Cue in the West Village. While there, the duo discovered good ol’ conversation and chemistry never gets old.
He said:
I got there early because you never want to keep a woman waiting and I didn’t know anything about her so I was nervous, but when she arrived, right on time, we got along quickly. She had very nice eyes and was definitely attractive.
We talked about all the usual stuff — television shows, music, sports, travel and career. Shannon being half-Japanese was interesting because she shared this cool variety of knowledge about her heritage. There wasn’t a boring moment during the date.
Shannon was confident, engaging and educated on a variety of topics. Usually, I date younger women but Shannon and I exchanged numbers and I think we’ll be going out again.
She said:
The date was actually one of the better ones I have been on. Derek had a big smile, was good-looking and very easy to talk to. He also asked a lot of questions, which helped keep the conversation flow going. In fact, I don’t think we stopped talking once until the end of the date!
The food and drinks were excellent, adventurous and inventive. It was sort of empty that night, but since Derek and I were chatting a mile a minute, it wasn’t until we were getting up to leave that I really noticed it.
At the end of the night, Derek offered to shelter me under his umbrella since it was raining a little, which scored major points! I don’t have any expectations, but I would go out with him again if he asked me.
