This week’s couple: Late night love

SANDY, an advertising salesperson, was so nervous for her blind date with Thanassi, a photographer, at NoLita eatery Ken & Cook, that the 29-year-old hatched an early exit strategy should things go awry. Lucky for them, neither wanted to escape. In fact, they parted ways much later than they planned and were even mistaken for celebrities. So, are they Hollywood’s next power couple, or doomed for splitsville like the rest of the A-list crowd?

He said:

We both arrived five minutes before 8. I was glad she wasn’t “casually late.” Sandy was reserved at first, which made me nervous — but in a good way.

We talked generic first date stuff: jobs, food and music tastes, etc. But I liked that Sandy appreciated my slightly crude humor and asked juicy questions herself. It was a conversation that flowed easily.

The restaurant was cozy with dim lighting (very flattering for both of us, I’m sure!) and the food was top-notch.

I drove her back home and suggested we have one more drink at a local bar. We both expressed interest in seeing each other again.

There’s some potential romantic interest. Overall, a great night.

I was incredibly nervous. So much so, I devised an exit plan should I need it. Thankfully, I didn’t.

Thanassi was a true gentleman with a good sense of humor. We talked about everything from drinking stories to worst dates ever. When the photographer came for our picture, a couple next to us asked if we were famous and we delighted in our 15 minutes.

The restaurant was great, too. We shared appetizers, had fish entrees and split a dessert. At the end of the date, Thanassi offered me a ride home, but suggested one more drink before calling it a night. It was easy to say yes.

It’s too early to tell if it’s romantic, but we agreed to meet up again. We’ll see how it turns out.
