3 people, including child, badly hurt in Bronx blaze

A fire ripped through a Bronx apartment building late last night, sending 13 people to hospitals — three of them in critical condition.

The most seriously hurt were a 4-year-old child, a 50-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman.

The other 10, seven civilians and three firefighters, were taken to North Central Bronx Hospital and the Allen Pavillion of New York Presbyterian with non-life-threatening injuries.

The blaze at 2727 University Avenue began at 11:17 p.m. and was brought under control about a half-hour later. The cause was not immediately known.
