Bravo will remake the classic 1988 movie, “Heathers,” as its first scripted show.
The series, also called “Heathers,” picks up 20 years later, with Veronica Sawyer (played by Winona Ryder in the movie) moving back to her Ohio hometown with her teenage daughter, who gets a taste of what Veronica went through when she enters high school and deals with the “mean girls.”
No cast members have been announced for the TV version.
In the darkly comic movie, Ryder’s Veronica distances herself from her clique-y, wealthy high school friends — all named Heather — and embarks on a dark, murderous relationship with a rebellious new student, Jason Dean (Christian Slater).
“90210” star Shannen Doherty played one of the “Heathers” in the movie.
