Colorful characters and threads on the catwalk

Strangeness heats up the fashion world as the week winds down with antics distracting from the pretty clothes.

Katie Holmes showed her Holmes & Yang line of smart luxury basics, but uninvited media were uninvited again to prevent a media circus. A publicist got slapped by an editor at the Zac Posen show (for being rude, imagine) and someone is suing. Diane von Furstenberg’s creative director of 2 ½ years, Yvan Mispelaere, stepped down 48 hours after the show.

Meanwhile, the clothes show rolled on, the obsession with all things Eastern continued at Jeremy Scott, who showed gold leopard burqas topped with baseball caps and machine guns embellishing dresses, crop tops and sunglasses, which may or may not get him into trouble. Amid this, Michael Kors got busy with geometrics in a nod to mod for his “Mad Men”-goes-to-the-pool-party romp. Proenza Schouler joined the digital age with perforated leathers and pixilated photo prints worthy of a videogame heroine. J. Mendel found inspiration in the wisteria in photographs of the Kawachi Fuji garden in Japan. And Marchesa jetted to India for its take on Bollywood glam . . . “Oh my God, oh my God, it’s Kimye! Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are at the Marchesa show. They haven’t been at any shows yet, have they? Wait, was he at Alexander Wang?”

Someone needs to get slapped . . . oh, wait, someone did.
