Vivienne Tam

White organza sheaths with giant geometric shapes in reds or greens accented with black opened Vivienne Tam’s show. From the audience’s reaction, they were definitely the must-have items of the runway.

Besides dresses, loose cropped pants that hit just blow the knee were a theme, shown in everything from black poplin, champagne hexagonal eyelet and even silver. Next, the oversized hexagonal eyelet motif was extremely modern, pleasing to the eye, and popped up on a red-and-black miniskirt, a grey cotton poplin dress, a black shirt-and-pants combo and a champagne trench coat. Everything was worn with black booties with cutouts at the bottom.

The second half of the show was about polka dots and stripes, which weren’t as compelling, and things got a bit jumbly with a bit of repitition, but giant black hexagonal overlays over dresses saved the day. This is, quite simply, Tam’s boldest collection in several seasons.
