This week’s couple: Quick fire

SCHEDULING a date for a person who works nights with a person who works days is not easy. Luckily, Cathy, 25, squeezed in time to not only meet with Jason, 30, but to participate in a seafood cooking class — on her lunch break, no less! So did things heat up in the kitchen at Sur La Table in Hell’s Kitchen? Or was this match 86’d from the start? — Jozen Cummings

He said:

This date was a little different because we were both in a cooking class, trying to pay attention. But we interacted really well. We talked from the start.

I cook and she really doesn’t, so I showed her a few tricks with the knife to make it easier for her. She thanked me for explaining how to do it rather than just jumping in to do it for her.

Cathy only had an hour for her lunch break, so she had to leave early, but she’s sweet and funny; just an easy girl to get along with. I also really enjoyed the date spot; we cooked four different types of fish — snapper, sole, tuna and salmon.

The time was brief, but I got her phone number and would like to see her again.

She said:

Jason dressed up! He had a nice, friendly smile, a good handshake and was on time. We both joked about how weird it was to be taking a cooking class in the middle of the day.

As the lesson started, I noticed that this guy knows how to cook! He was demonstrating everything. At first I thought it was cute , but then I got a little annoyed because I’m stubborn and don’t like being told what to do, least of all something silly like cutting carrots.

Halfway through class, I had to abandon him! I felt really bad, and I didn’t get to eat any of what we cooked.

I wrote my number on my name tag and passed it to him on my way out. It’d be great to hang out again, as friends, or maybe I’d try a date in a more relaxed setting.
