Where we left off

The Good Wife

The Good Wife (
)

‘Once Upon a Time” (Sunday, Sept. 30, 8 p.m., ABC) After a season of steadily eroding disbelief that she was the savior of a sleeping fairy-tale world, Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) finally stuck it to dragon lady Maleficent in a stunning finale — at least for network TV. But not before pulling out a few last “duh” moments.

Emma’s kiss on Henry’s (Jared Gilmore) forehead also broke the spell so that all the fairy-tale characters we met in the first season suddenly remember who they are (but are still stuck in Storybrooke) and Prince Charming (Josh Dallas) and Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) are reunited.

And because we can’t all live happily ever after in just one season, Rumpelstiltskin (Robert Carlyle) unleashed some “Lost”-looking purple smoke to bring on the dark magic.

“Person of Interest” (Thursday, Sept. 27, 9 p.m., CBS) You can watch the finale yourself, as it re-airs next tomorrow at 10 p.m. (yet seemingly nowhere online). But in case you just want the highlights: After a season of tracking violent crimes without losing his wry sense of humor, nerdy Finch (Michael Emerson) was kidnapped in last season’s finale by nemesis hacker Root (Amy Acker), who posed as a person of interest.

Partner/renegade spy Reese (Jim Caviezel) discovered the abduction and turned to the only character as cold and wooden as he was: The Machine.

“Revenge” (Sunday, Sept. 30, 9 p.m., ABC) Although this melodramatic Hamptons tale had plenty to live up to after a wild ride of a first season, the finale dispelled any doubts that this show is the heir to the “serious” nighttime soap throne. We got heartbreak: Emily (Emily VanCamp) gave Daniel (Josh Bowman) his ring back after he found out she kissed true love Jack (Nick Wechsler).

It gave us lives hanging in the balance: Victoria (Madeleine Stowe) appeared to have died in the plane explosion and her daughter OD’d.

And the absolute soap must, a back-from-the-dead relative: Emily’s mom is alive.

“Fringe” (Friday, Sept. 28, 9 p.m., Fox) All looked happy in this alternate universe’s season — re-animated Olivia (Anna Torv) and Peter (Joshua Jackson) were preggers, Broyles (Lance Reddick) got a promotion, Astrid (Jasika) shared a Twizzler with Walter (John Noble) — until those cerebral-scanning Big Brothers, aka the Observers, announced that they are invading the Earth and we’re all supposed to bow down to them.

“Castle” (Monday, Sept. 24, 10 p.m., ABC) Handsome mystery writer (Nathan Fillion) and his cop partner (Stana Katic) entered “Moonlighting” territory when they hit the sheets after four seasons of flirting.

“Scandal” (Thursday, Sept. 27, 10 p.m., ABC) After a short, seven-episode freshman season, the new Shonda Rhimes (“Grey’s Anatomy”) show revealed that Quinn (Katie Lowes) was not the milquetoast goody-goody we were led to believe she was, and that Olivia (Kerry Washington) has been hiding her the whole time. Quinn’s real identity was left hanging in the season finale, along with Olivia’s future with the president (Tony Goldwyn), whom Olivia sent back to the first lady (Bellamy Young,) despite his objections.

“Hawaii Five-0” (Monday, Sept. 24, 10 p.m., CBS) When last we left the islanders, Kono (Grace Park) was tied up and tossed over the side of a boat when devilish Delano (William Baldwin) forced Chin (Daniel Dae Kim) to chose between saving her or wife Malia (Reiko Aylesworth). McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) also discovered his mother is still alive (and played by Christine Lahti).

“Law & Order: SVU” (Wednesday, Sept. 26, 9 p.m., NBC) Captain Cragen (Dann Florek) was last seen waking up to a dead hooker who was helping the SVU crew investigate a murder at a bachelor party of high-profile celebs and politicians. Look for much-missed Sue Simmons as a reporter in the 14th season’s opener.

THE GOOD WIFE Sunday, Sept. 30, 9 p.m., CBS) So many questions left unanswered in the season finale: Is Alicia (Julianna Margulies) reuniting with philandering Peter (Chris Noth)? Will Kalinda (Archie Panjabi) welcome her scary, abusive hubby home with a bullet? Can Michael J. Fox own the firm and still star in an upcoming comedy on another network? Actually, that last one is obvious.

TOUCH

(Friday, Oct. 26, Fox) The series doesn’t return until the end of next month, but they left the show open to a whole new location and focus after Martin (Kiefer Sutherland) learns that AsterCorp is an evil corporation hunting for number-obsessed kids like Jake (David Mazouz). The pair flee to California, where they meet mysterious Amelia’s mom (Maria Bello).
