Kennedy’s abortion push: All quiet on the clergy front

The Issue: The Catholic Church’s silence on Caroline Kennedy’s pro-abortion stance at the DNC recently.

***

Thank you, Bill O’Reilly, for your comments on the bishops’ silence concerning the public scandal that so-called Catholics like Caroline Kennedy bring upon the Church by openly supporting abortion rights (“Silent Bishops,” PostOpinion, Sept. 15).

The bishops’ silence is deafening while the abortion-rights mob declares war.

If that’s the case, who if not the bishops — the shepherds of Christ’s flock — will hear the cries of the millions of the most innocent Americans to be sacrificed at the altar of “choice”?

O’Reilly called out the American Catholic bishops on their silence in the wake of Kennedy’s pro-abortion stance at the Democratic National Convention.

The lack of respect for life is a root cause for the social ills of our country today. It is a disappointment, to say the least, that clerical leadership failed to defend the Catholic Church against Kennedy’s attack.

O’Reilly had it only partially right — the bishops are not alone.

The Church does not seem to understand that if bishops behave like some Republicans — those “can’t we all get along” Republicans who reach across the aisle — they’re going to be bitten in the backside.

It seems the Democrats have an intense dislike for Republicans and the Catholic Church.

Their every action tells me so, and should tell everyone so.

O’Reilly should know the Catholic Church will not get involved directly or remotely with politics.

Kennedy’s take on abortion is her personal opinion. Do I care about her opinion? Should anyone care about her opinion on anything? No.

President Obama made a marionette fool of her at the Democratic convention to the cheers of idiots. She joined Sandra Fluke and put on red noses backstage.
