Bun-derful!

That girl on the subway with the perfect bun might actually be giving new meaning to the phrase “put a sock in it.”

Yes, the latest style sensation can be molded to salon perfection — at home with a simple sock.

The voluminous high bun “has been really popular for fall,” says Halli Bivona, a stylist at John Barrett Salon at Bergdorf Goodman. “It’s the most requested new style.”

Noting it’s a modern take on a classic ’60s look, Bivona says, “using the sock or foam doughnut is a way to do the style at home.”

Celebrities, such as Lauren Conrad, Gwen Stefani, Nicole Richie and Kim Kardashian, and fashionable New York women, who are looking for a quick, sleek hair fix, are equally fond of the bun.

The John Barrett Salon offers the option at their ponytail bar, and it’s one of the most requested styles.

“The top knot in general is universally flattering, and there were different versions on the fall and spring runways with the tight, thicker bun.”

It’s the go to ’do for Emily Hagman, senior public relations manager for Tibi, who says, “It instantly gives you a polished look, whether you’re in a casual weekend outfit, office attire, or [dressed] for an evening out. It works with everything.” Here, Hagman shows us how to get the perfect at-home bun.
