Tony back to crime

James Gandolfini is returning to the scene of the crime(s).

Gandolfini, who starred as Mob boss Tony Soprano on “The Sopranos,” will be back on HBO in an adaptation of the BBC crime drama “Criminal Justice.”

In the pilot, Gandolfini will play Jack Stone, a “downtrodden jailhouse attorney” who hangs around a New York police station trolling for clients — where he finds Naz (Rizwan Ahmed), an American-born Pakistani charged with murder, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Since “The Sopranos” ended in 2007, Gandolfini, 51, has starred in several movies, including “The Taking of Pelham 123,” and on Broadway (“God of Carnage”).
