Baby hurt in E. Harlem fire

A 2-month-old boy was seriously injured last night when a fire ripped through his family’s East Harlem apartment.

Five others — including four firefighters — were also injured in the blaze, which broke out at about 6:30 p.m. in a third-floor apartment on East 118th Street near First Avenue, the FDNY said.

About 100 firefighters responded to the two-alarm blaze, which quickly spread to the floor above.

It took about 90 minutes to bring the fire under control.

The infant was rushed to Harlem Hospital suffering from smoke inhalation, the FDNY said.

Another civilian was taken to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

The four firefighters were treated for minor injuries at St. Luke’s Hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
