Spinning the Libya attack: Bam camp’s lies exposed

The Issue: Jay Carney’s statement that the attack on the US consulate in Libya was planned by terrorists.

Finally, White House spokesman Jay Carney admits — sort of — that it was a terrorist attack that occurred in Benghazi, and the YouTube video had nothing to do with it (“. . . and Libyan Reality Intrudes,” Editorial, Sept. 21).

Can somebody please tell this to UN Ambassador Susan Rice? Why didn’t President Obama just blame George W. Bush for the attack, like he always does?

When an athlete commits an error, it helps to have a short memory.

Ditto for a White House spokesman tasked with lying about an event where the truth is obvious.

Ditto for a UN ambassador sent on a dizzying round of television appearances where, with the straightest face she can muster, she spreads propaganda that we all know is false.

Why do they do it? They are simply serving a higher calling — the political survival of their boss. Don’t forget that in the land where liberals dwell, the end always justifies the means.

After 9/11, Bush kept us safe from any further terrorist attacks for almost eight years by making America itself a terror to the terrorists.

After President Obama’s world apology tour, he couldn’t even keep us safe for four years. Strength vs. weakness defined.

After watching Rice last week and then Obama on The Late Show with David Letterman telling the world that these attacks were the result of a video, I see that Matthew Olsen, the head of our counter-terrorism unit, testified in Congress that it was a terrorist attack.

I guess he forgot to advise Obama of what happened. Or was it in the daily intelligence briefing that Obama doesn’t read, since he presumes to know everything already?

I await a 60 Minutes episode for a retraction or repudiation of Obama’s comment about who shoots first before learning the facts. But, knowing the media today, I will not hold my breath.Paul Sheridan
