Starr Report

I recently interviewed Phil McGraw for a feature on “Dr. Phil” which ran in The Post’s TV section. In our talk, McGraw talked about his interview with Lindsay Lohan’s mother, Dina Lohan. That interview, which aired Monday, Sept. 17 on “Dr. Phil,” is making news now because of Dina Lohan’s bizarre on-camera behavior — and because, according to tmz.com, she now wants to revisit “Dr. Phil” for a “re-do” interview that would cast her in a different light.

“Dr. Phil” officials were mum yesterday on whether Lohan had contacted them — and, if she did, if she’s returning to the show. “We have nothing to comment on, at this point,” a show spokeswoman told me.

But in my interview with McGraw, he described, in detail, Dina Lohan’s strange behavior.

“She said she felt like she had some things she needed to say. She’s a fan of the show, and said she wanted to talk to me about it,” McGraw said. “I sat down with her and, wow, I mean, how would you describe it? She was just all over the place. She wanted to talk, and then when she got there — I don’t know if she had an anxiety attack or whatever — but she’s flitting around and not saying anything.

“She said, ‘I can’t believe you asked me that, is the camera rolling?’ and at one point I finally said, ‘You know damn well the camera’s rolling. Either answer the question or don’t.’

“She is a very nice lady and very smart, and at one level you can’t help but to really like her, but she’s really got an unusual way of being. I guess that’s the way to say it.”

Cable series premieres: HLN launched “Making It In America” yesterday. The hour-long show, airing 4 p.m. weekdays, is hosted by Vinnie Politan and focuses on how Americans are dealing with the economy. It replaced the last hour of “News Now,” which now airs from noon to 4 p.m.

Over on BET, meanwhile, T.J. Holmes kicks off a new late-night show, “Don’t Sleep!” this Monday, Oct. 1. The show will air Monday through Thursday at 11 p.m. and will feature a “rotating panel of influencers, news makers and celebrity guests” dealing with topical issues relevant to the African-American community.

Holmes, 35, joined BET last year from CNN.
