Big rig kills man

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a large truck yesterday while crossing a street in Midtown, authorities said.

Ken Baker, 26, was walking northbound on Sixth Avenue near West 47th Street in Manhattan at around 3:45 a.m. when the big rig hit him, officials said.

The driver of the truck was attempting to make a left turn from Sixth Avenue onto West 47th Street just before his vehicle hit the man, police said.

The operator of the yellow 2007 Peterbilt truck stayed at the scene, and police do not suspect any criminality.

Baker suffered fatal injuries to his torso and arms, cops said.

The truck had no trailer attached and was heading westbound at the time of the accident, police said.

The victim, an upstate Binghamton resident, was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he later died.
