Jacobs, Rex bury hatchet

Brandon Jacobs and Rex Ryan may have squashed their beef, but the 49ers running back got the last laugh yesterday.

Ryan and Jacobs famously confronted each other last December after Jacobs’ Giants beat Ryan’s Jets 29-14 at MetLife Stadium, with the heated exchange culminating with Jacobs threatening to punch Ryan in the face.

The two had a different type of meeting when Ryan’s Jets hosted San Francisco yesterday. the team that signed Jacobs this offseason.

“I talked to Rex before the game, we shook hands and hugged like brothers,” said Jacobs, who did not play because of a knee injury. “He said to me, ‘I’m in a different weight class now, I lost a little bit,’ and I said ‘I know, you look goodHe does look good and all I can do is wish him and his team a lot of luck.’ ”

Yesterday was the first time Jacobs returned to MetLife Stadium since winning Super Bowl XLVI with the Giants last season. Prior to joining the 49ers this offseason, Jacobs played his entire career in New York.

“It feels really good to come back and see the stadium, see New York and New Jersey, it really means a lot to me,” Jacobs said. “It brought back some memories.for me, but coming in on the visiting side is totally different.”
