Scott preaches unity to Jets teammates

After Jets coach Rex Ryan got done ripping his team for a 34-0 loss to the 49ers, veteran linebacker Bart Scott addressed the group.

According to a few players, Scott told his teammates they need to stick together.

His message: “There’s no pointing fingers. We all lost this game. It’s on us to fix it.”

Scott did not speak to reporters after the game.

Things unraveled for the Jets last season after a Week 4 loss to the Ravens that had a similar feeling to yesterday’s debacle. That is when the in-fighting in the locker room began, and the Jets never really recovered.

The Jets don’t get a break in the schedule with the undefeated Texans coming to New Jersey next Monday.

“We have to figure something out,” linebacker David Harris said. “We’re going into our fifth game and we have a good Houston team coming up. We’ve got to get it corrected as soon as possible and move on.”

* Tight end Dustin Keller did not play for the third straight game due to a hamstring injury. The Jets were hopeful Keller might be able to play, but after watching him work out on the field hours before kickoff they ruled him out. Rookie wideout Stephen Hill also missed the game with a hamstring injury.

The Jets desperately need Keller back. Quarterback Mark Sanchez is not the same without his favorite target, especially if wide receiver Santonio Holmes — who suffered a left foot injury — is lost for a long period of time.

* Fullback John Conner injured his left hamstring in the second quarter. He hoped to re-enter the game, but the trainers held him out to be cautious, he said. Conner missed last week’s game with a sprained MCL in his right knee. … TE Dedrick Epps injured his knee on a hard hit in the second quarter that caused him to fumble a pass from Tim Tebow. Epps did not return. He will have an MRI exam today. … The Jets are 2-10 all-time against the 49ers, 1-6 at home . … This was the third-worst home shutout in Jets history: They lost 43-0 to the Dolphins in 1975 at Shea Stadium and 37-0 in 1989 to the Bills at Giants Stadium.
