Simon’s ‘X Factor’ for geeks

Simon Cowell is dropping the music for his next show and going high-tech.

The nasty judge is working on a new series that will discover young tech wizards and give them a chance to pitch their new digital products to a panel of Silicon Valley investors, according to reports.

Black Eyed Peas singer Will.i.am is a partner in the project, says The Sun in London.

The idea is to discover the next Bill Gates or Mark Zuckerberg, the paper says.

“Singing and performance create a couple of jobs. But this will create lots,” the singer was quoted as telling a London tech conference over the weekend.

“It’s about getting in touch with youth and giving them a platform to express themselves — whether that’s in science or mathematics.

The project began at “a wicked dinner a couple of weeks ago, and it was very nice,” the singer said.

Will.i.am has been working with Cowell in recent weeks on the British version of “X Factor,” where Simon is a judge and the singer a mentor.

Word of a new, non-music show comes shortly after Page Six reported Cowell’s latest collaboration, a search for the next big DJ with actor Will Smith, fell apart in a dispute over top billing.
