Giants report card

OFFENSE

Eli Manning nearly engineered another comeback without a running game. Threw a killer interception to ruin a golden scoring chance, but came back to give his team a short-lived lead. Huge (and unwise) pass interference penalty on Ramses Barden in closing seconds. Big efforts from Victor Cruz (9-for-109, 1 TD) and Domenik Hixon (6-for-114). C+

DEFENSE

Handed lead late, handed it right back. All that good work early against LeSean McCoy (23-for-123) wasted late on McCoy’s elusive cutbacks. Not enough heat on Michael Vick (two sacks) and not enough containment by Osi Umenyiora on Vick’s scrambles. Prince Amukamara and Corey Webster prevented any huge plays downfield, but coverage in fourth quarter sagged a bit. C

SPECIAL TEAMS

Lawrence Tynes had been perfect on field goals this season, but came up short on tough 54-yarder in closing seconds. David Wilson looked as if he were shot out of the end zone on kickoff returns of 43 and 53 yards. Another good Wilson return called back on Spencer Paysinger penalty. B

COACHING

There were 42 pass attempts and 13 rushes, a balance Tom Coughlin and Kevin Gilbride don’t like. Coughlin could have gone for one more play before last-gasp field goal but it’s a tough call. Not enough defensive heat late. B
