OFFENSE

Tony Sparano’s crew did nothing right and got shut out for just the second time in the Rex Ryan era. They managed just 145 yards, 45 rushing. QB Mark Sanchez (13-of-29, 103 yards, 1 INT, 1 fumble, 39.9 rating) was awful. His first-half fumble was unforgivable. He held on to the ball too long, which contributed to three sacks. RB Shonn Greene (11 rushes, 34 yards) continues to be a non-factor. F

DEFENSE

Ryan’s crew has forgotten how to tackle. The defense gave up 245 yards rushing, the most since Ryan became head coach. They have been terrible against the run in three of the four games. The 49ers wound up with 379 yards total. After touting a running quarterback all spring and summer, Ryan saw one impact a game. Colin Kaepernick, not Tim Tebow, rushed for 50 yards and a touchdown in the game. The 49ers averaged 5.6 yards per carry. Brutal. F

SPECIAL TEAMS

A fourth-quarter blocked punt was the cherry on top for San Francisco. The 49ers did not even have a punt block called. Instead, Larry Grant came loose and blocked it to set up the 49ers’ final touchdown. Joe McKnight averaged 36.5 on two kickoff returns, keeping this grade from being an F. D

COACHING

The Jets continue to have the same problems and Ryan and his staff don’t seem to have any answers. Sparano had a terrible game. He could not get any offense generated. The group was 2-for-13 on third down, which is unacceptable. Ryan and Mike Pettine have not figured out how to fix the porous run defense. F
