Jets blitz

HERO

San Francisco’s punishing defense demolished the Jets, pitching a shutout and holding Mark Sanchez and Co. to 145 total yards. Really, the entire 49ers team obliterated the Jets, but the defense in particular was superb.

UNSUNG HERO

Give it to the 49ers’ running game, which pounded out 245 yards on 44 carries — the most rushing yards Rex Ryan’s Jets have ever surrendered. San Francisco averaged 5.6 yards per carry, posting three different rushers — Frank Gore (62), Kendall Hunter (56) and Colin Kaepernick (50) — with at least 50 yards on the ground.

ZERO

It was simply an abysmal game for Mark Sanchez, who threw for just 103 yards on 13-for-29 passing, tossed an interception and committed a bad fumble. The latter cost the Jets a shot at a field goal that, if good, would have made it a 7-3 game late in the first half.
