Cops charge suspect in hypodermic needle robbery spree

Cops have charged a man wanted for wielding a hypodermic needle to rob nine people in the Bronx and Manhattan, police said.

The thief most recently struck in Manhattan, when he threatened a 14-year-old on the northbound no. 1 train at West 86th Street about 8:30 a.m. Saturday, sources said. He made off with the boy’s cell phone.

The Bronx Warrant Squad nabbed the suspect in Yonkers, sources said.

The youth later identified Angel Cintron, 39, from a photo-array lineup, sources said.

He was charged with weapons possession and multiple counts of robbery

Cintron is believed to have first struck at about 11 a.m. Aug. 16 when he robbed a man near Castle Hill and East Tremont avenues in Westchester Village, The Bronx.

Since then he’s allegedly robbed iPods, iPads and cellphones from at least six other victims, mostly teens ranging in age from 16 to 19.
