Duck!
A Port Authority employee at Kennedy Airport was arrested last night on reckless-endangerment charges after he fired a shotgun blast that not only killed the two birds he was aiming at, but blew out the rear window of a passing PA vehicle, The Post has learned.
No one was hurt.
The employee, who was not immediately identified, is one of several assigned to wildlife-management duties at JFK.
They drive around the airport and use a variety of nonlethal means — such as noisemakers, balloons and lasers — to scare off birds before they can get sucked into a jet’s engine.
When those methods fail, they resort to shotguns filled with birdshot.
Yesterday’s incident occurred at around 5 p.m., when the worker — who was positioned between two UPS jets — spotted two gulls and opened fire.
His shot hit the rear window of the passing vehicle, which was driven by a civilian PA worker.
The shooter was given a desk- appearance ticket and released.
Some 5,000 birds were killed at JFK in 2011.
