Soda grounds American Airlines’ 757s: officials

American Airlines is now blaming spilled soda for the loose seats that have plagued the airline’s fleet of Boeing 757s.

Officials from the troubled airline said yesterday that soda spilled into the poorly designed and worn-out track system that holds the seats in place caused rows of seats to pop loose during flights, according to CBS.

The new explanation for the seat failure comes after the airline initially blamed faulty track system clamps for the seat loosening fiasco.

As a result of the seat problem, American Airlines pulled 48 757s out of service yesterday to make repairs.
