Loyal pooch runs over a mile to visit injured owner

A husky named Zander must have missed his master — a lot.

The 70-pound pooch slipped out of his Bay Shore house at dawn last week. Zander, who loves to run, went about 1.5 miles until he got to Good Samaritan Medical Center in West Islip.

His owner, John Dolan, was laid up there with a leg ailment.

Dolan got a call from a stranger who was across the street from the hospital with his dog. The man had gotten Dolan’s phone number from Zander’s license tag.

Dolan’s wife, Priscilla, said she believes Zander really was looking for him.

Dolan concedes it could all have been just a coincidence.

Dolan says he and the former shelter dog are “buddies.” They were reunited when he left the hospital.
