Baseball legend Cal Ripken Jr. ID’d as ‘Carl’ in TBS graphic

Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to Carl Ripken Jr.

No, not Cal Ripken Jr., the Baltimore Orioles legend who set baseball’s consecutive games played streak in 1995.

Nope, his name is Carl now – at least that’s how TBS identified him during Friday’s broadcast for the Orioles-Rangers Wild Card game, which Baltimore won 5-1.

The incorrect graphic appeared as “Carl” Ripken spoke with John Smoltz and Ernie Johnson.

Ripken played his entire career for the Orioles and was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007.

Fans poked fun at the name gaffe online.

“The Orioles have the magic of Carl Ripken Jr. on their side,” wrote one Twitter user. “Unbeatable.”

“This Carl Ripken Jr. sure knows his stuff,” wrote another Twitter user.
