Reggae musician ‘Captain Barkey,’ woman shot dead by her jealous ex outside Bronx motel: cops

“Please, no!” a woman begged before her former lover shot her dead in the parking lot of a Bronx motel early today, police sources and witnesses said.

Blood-curdling screams woke up guests at the Holiday Motel at 3 a.m. when the woman’s ex-boyfriend allegedly pumped rounds into her companion for the night.

Friends identified the slain man as a reggae musician from Milwaukee, Wayne Hamilton, who goes by the stage name Captain Barkey.

After killing Hamilton, the shooter chased the woman, 38-year-old Tracy Bennett, to the back of the hotel. She pleaded for her own life before she too was shot dead.

“I heard [her] plead for [her] life and then heard gunshots,” “She was begging,” said Keshia Barrett, 36, who was heard the mayhem from her bed.

Bennett had a restraining order against the suspect, sources said.

The guns-blazing violence petrified guests in the motel in Eastchester, next to the New England Thruway.

“We heard a lot of gun shots and we turned up the lights right away,” said Upper West Side teen Julie Feiffer, who partied that night at the motel. “It was terrifying.” ,” the 18-year-old said. “We locked the doors right away.”

Bennett was shot dead near room 204, where a group of twenty revelers were celebrating a birthday in room 204.

Trevor Ruocco, 22, was at that party attendee, was spending the night. “A girl ran down the walkway and he shot her,” he said. “He shot her two or three times.

In all, Augustine Mawugbe, 45, recalls the sound of ten pops. “I came to the window after I heard the shots. I was shaking,” he said.

A tall man in a brown shirt then jumped into a car with New York plates, he said.

“He had a gun in his right hand, a pistol,” he said. “He drove fast.”
