Disney: It’s all in the wrist

Walt Disney asked the Federal Communications Commission for permission to use electronic wristbands that can track customers’ activity at its parks, a feature that may further its plans to tailor guest visits.

The Burbank, Calif.-based company requested approval to operate a “wrist worn arm band that transmits a 2.4 GHz signal to an indoor wireless infrastructure,” according to a letter submitted to the commission on Oct. 3.

Disney, the world’s largest theme-park operator, is looking at new technologies that can be used to customize the park experience.
