Quinn KC’s QB after Cassel concussion

Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel has been ruled out for Sunday’s game at Tampa Bay with a concussion, and Brady Quinn will start an NFL game for the first time since the 2009 season.

Coach Romeo Crennel said yesterday doctors have not cleared Cassel after he was hurt in the fourth quarter of a 9-6 loss to Baltimore last Sunday. Cassel has only spent a short period of time at the practice facility this week and it’s unclear how long he might be out.

PATRIOTS: Linebacker Brandon Spikes says he was joking when he tweeted that he was “homophobic.”

Spikes tweeted on Wednesday: “I’m homophobic just like I’m arachnophobic. I have nothing against homosexuals or spiders, but I’d still scream if I found one in my bathtub !”

After receiving several negative comments on Twitter, he tweeted, “PEOPLE !!!! It’s a joke … seriously a JOKE !!! Chill out”

EAGLES: Quarterback Michael Vick, who served 18 months in prison on dogfighting charges, confirmed he owns a dog.

Vick said the animal “is well cared for and loved as a member of our family.” He says it’s his responsibility as a father to teach his children to develop a healthy relationship with animals.

DOLPHINS:
Reggie Bush joined the injury list with a sore knee after being limited in practice yesterday. Bush initially hurt his left knee Sept. 23 against the Jets.

Backup Daniel Thomas sat out practice for the second day in a row after suffering a concussion for the second time this season last Sunday.
