Erica Hill leaves CBS for ‘Today’

Anderson Cooper’s ex-sidekick Erica Hill looks like she’s going to the “Today “ show as weekend anchor after a short, unhappy stint on CBS’ “This Morning.”

Hill, 36, was left the odd man out when CBS brought in Gayle King and Charlie Rose last January in it’s latest effort to create a competitive morning show.

CBS said it has been trying to find a new job for Hill since she was replaced last summer by Norah O’Donnell, the network’s White House reporter.

Now, it appears the network has let her out of her contract so she can jump to NBC.

Hill got noticed — by, among others, Katie Couric, then the evening news anchor at CBS — on Cooper’s prime-time CNN show.

On the show, she was the irreverent, comic foil to the straight-laced Anderson and was the first to get him to show his silly side.
