Randy Jackson’s new artist Mika Newton wants to ‘Come Out and Play’

Mika Newton is not an American idol yet, but the native Ukraine artist is making strides to realizing her singing dreams on the western hemisphere by signing with music producer Randy Jackson’s Friendship Collective label.

Newton stopped by the Post’s Name Check with Michael Riedel to promote her singles, “Don’t Dumb Me Down” and “Come Out and Play.” On the show she talked about her American tour and gave insight on how she found her talent.

Newton was discovered after entering numerous singing competitions, including the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest. The JK Music-signed blonde said she loved to perform at an early age and even joined the circus.

Newton credits her time with a high school teacher, who helped her pen original songs, and the influence of Ukraine and Russian pop music as elements that fostered her singing style.

Now, she says, she wants to bring her voice to the American Audience.
