Bloomberg rips candidates’ gun violence ‘gibberish’

Mayor Bloomberg ripped into both President Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney yesterday for addressing the issue of gun violence in their second debate with what he described as “gibberish.”

“I think what we did get was a perfect example of obfuscation and very little honesty,” said the mayor.

“One candidate had four years to do something and hasn’t and the other candidate says he won’t even do what he once did.”

The first reference was obviously to Obama; the second was to Romney, who supported a ban on the sale of assault weapons when he was governor of Massachusetts but refuses to do so now.

“They had all this gibberish talking about education — that education is the solution to stop the killing,” the mayor noted. “My recollection is that the Aurora [Colorado] theater shooting was a PhD candidate, okay?”

Bloomberg has told reporters that he knows who he’s going to vote for in the presidential race, but isn’t ready to disclose his choice.
