POLL RESULTS: Fans want A-Rod, Swisher gone from Yankees

Brian Cashman figures to have a busy offseason after the Yankees’ flameout in the ALCS against the Tigers. Though the general manager is likely to take some time before making any decisions about next season, Post readers already have tried to help him out with more than 461,000 votes on nypost.com.

If it were up to them, Alex Rodriguez would have played his last game in Pinstripes, with 77 percent of responders saying they wanted the third baseman gone.

The reaction was understandable, considering how he finished the season — benched in consecutive games against the Tigers in the ALCS — but the reality is the 37-year-old has five years and $114 million left on his contract and a no-trade clause, to go along with his diminished skills.

Fans may get their wish, though, when it comes to Nick Swisher. The right fielder pulled another postseason vanishing act and is set to hit the free-agent market. If he does leave, fans don’t seem as if they will be sorry to see him go, with 81 percent voting to show him the door.

POLL RESULTS: YANKEES FANS WEIGH IN ON ROSTER

They were kinder to Robinson Cano, who has had some postseason success in the past but was awful this year, thanks to a 29 at-bat hitless streak. Despite the disappointing end, 84 percent of responders want him back.

Among the free agents, starting pitcher Hiroki Kuroda got an 89 percent vote to return, while closer Mariano Rivera, out since May with a torn ACL, got 86 percent. Rivera’s replacement, Rafael Soriano, can opt out of his contract, but 75 percent would like to see him stay.

Andy Pettitte, still undecided whether he wants to play in 2013, got 73 percent.

Curtis Granderson has a team option, but his late-season struggles turned people against the center fielder and just under 50 percent would like him to stick around. Rodriguez’s postseason replacement, Eric Chavez, didn’t receive much support after going 0-for-16 in the playoffs. Just 43 percent would like to see him in The Bronx next year.

Manager Joe Girardi still has another year on his contract worth $3 million and 72 percent voted in his favor.
