Sue Simmons blames Chuck Scarborough for on-air F-bomb

WTF? Blame Chuck!

Former WNBC/Channel 4 newscaster Sue Simmons finally explained her infamous 2008 on-air exclamation, “What the f- -k are you doing?!?”

It was directed at co-anchor Chuck Scarborough, she said Wednesday.

“Chuck had been in his computer Googling a lot lately and not paying attention,” Simmons told a gathering of the New York Association of Black Journalists, which gave her a Lifetime Achievement Award.

“I wanted to get his attention so I said, ‘What the f–k are you doing?!’ ” she said. “Would you believe, he still didn’t hear me?”

Simmons added that production assistants had failed to warn her that they were on the air while promotional teasers were running.

She apologized after the commercials. “We handled it and I survived,” she said,

Simmons, 70, was ousted from WNBC after 32 years in June reportedly over her high salary.
