‘Sick days’ pol softens

The sponsor of a controversial bill forcing companies to offer paid sick days is willing to weaken the measure to make it more palatable to the city’s business community.

Many members of the coalition of unions, politicians and activists supporting the bill “feel they can tweak the legislation to make it even more pro-business,” bill sponsor Gale Brewer (D-Manhattan) said yesterday.

But the president of the pro-business Partnership for NYC, Kathy Wylde, said the bill “remains anti-business and there are no ‘tweaks’ that can make it any easier or less expensive for affected small businesses to administer.”
