WATCH: Obama makes Trump-Kenya joke on ‘Tonight Show’

So that’s where it all began.

President Obama poured kerosene on his rift with business icon Donald Trump in a Wednesday “Tonight Show” appearance, saying their disagreement dates back “to when we were growing up together in Kenya.”

Trump has been one of Obama’s leading “birther” critics, arguing that Obama was born outside of the United States.

“We had constant run-ins on the soccer field. He wasn’t very good,” Obama told Jay Leno. “When we finally moved to America, I thought it would be over.”

Obama’s comments came hours after Trump released a video announcing that he’ll give $5 million to the charity of Obama’s choosing if the president releases his college records, along with other documentation.

Despite the late-night jokes and viral jabs, Obama told Leno he’s never actually met Trump.

Obama also discussed the Detroit-San Francisco World Series matchup with Leno.

“Detroit beat my White Sox out of the pennant,” Obama said. “But I’ve spent a lot of time in Detroit. I didn’t want to let Detroit go bankrupt.

“In this particular World Series, I may be a little partial.”

Leno spent part of the interview asking Obama audience questions – including the super power he’d most like to have.

“Flying seems pretty fun,” the president said. But Obama wonders if it’s too cold for superheroes to fly.

“They all wear those little thin suits,” he said.
