Jets blitz

HERO

He didn’t look like a Hall of Famer for nearly 59 minutes, but never bet against Tom Brady at home with the game on the line. Given 1:37 to work with after the Jets rallied into the lead, the Patriots star calmly led New England 54 yards in six plays to force overtime and then put together another 54-yard field goal drive at the start of the extra session that proved to be the difference. It was Brady’s 35th career comeback in the fourth quarter.

ZERO

Stephen Hill’s hands will remain a running joke for the Jets for at least another week as his wide-open drop on third down from the New England 25 with 2:15 left in regulation forced the Jets to settle for a game-tying field goal. The rookie second-round pick is a supremely talented athlete but hasn’t shown any reliability yet, and the Jets are paying for it.

UNSUNG HERO

Patriots defensive tackle Jermaine Cunningham took it upon himself to win this for New England, blowing up Jets guard Brandon Moore on an interior bull rush in overtime and getting to Mark Sanchez long enough to set up teammate Rob Ninkovich for a free shot on Sanchez that forced the game-ending fumble.

KEY STAT

131: Rushing yards allowed by the Jets, marking the fifth time in seven games this season they have given up at least that many yards on the ground.
